The Shang Shung Institute Austria is part of the International Shang Shung Institute, which has three main seats: in Italy, in USA and in Austria.

The Shang Shung Institute Austria is mainly responsible for translation projects, for coordinating courses on Tibetan Medicine and for organizing Tibetan cultural events including exhibitions, public talks, etc.
The translation projects are the "Ka-Ter Translation Program" and the "Complete Works of Chögyal Namkhai Norbu".
